The move might be a calculated wait-and-see approach to an industry that is getting a certain degree of pushback from gamers, as video games are moving up from the nearly universal sub-$60 price tag that most commanded to higher base prices across the board.

Warner Bros. and TT Games finally revealed LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19, 2025, making it the first LEGO Batman game in over a decade since the release of LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham in 2014.

Despite the buzz surrounding the reveal, Warner Bros. has sidestepped disclosing the game’s price, which has concerned many gamers and fans that it could be Warner Bros.' first title to retail for $80, a trend that the video game industry has been leaning toward this year.

The information  was revealed in the official FAQ on the LEGO Batman Game  website, under the question, “How much will LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight cost?”

The response dodges the question entirely and states, “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is not available for pre-order yet, but the game can be wishlisted now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).”

This response has indeed raised a few eyebrows, as it tries to divert attention to wishlisting rather than stating the game’s price. Fans are worried about price hikes as this does coincide with recent trends, where publishers have tested $80 release for major games, subsequently facing fan backlash.

To put things into perspective, TT Games’ previous major title, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, launched in 2022 for $60. But with the passage of time and escalating development costs, with studios transitioning to next-gen hardware, many titles have peaked at the $70 mark, as had been the case with Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Monster Hunter Wilds, and the upcoming Borderlands 4.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is set to release in 2026 on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. According to the official announcement, players will get to follow Bruce Wayne’s journey as the Caped Crusader in an immersive open-world Gotham City, with dynamic combat, puzzles, and secrets, packaged neatly with TT Games’ signature humor.

The game will support two-player co-op, with combat reminiscent of the Arkham series, and seven playable characters, including Batman, Jim Gordon, Catwoman, Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Talia al Ghul.
