Volvo recently presented its first fully electric van, the EM90. Based on the Geely Zeekr 009, the Volvo EM90 is therefore a luxuriously equipped electric MPV with plenty of space and comfort as well as high safety standards thanks to modern assistance systems.

Volvo has announced its first premium all-electric van, the EM90. As a 6-seater electric van, the Volvo EM90 offers a huge interior, plenty of luxury and a long all-electric range. Volvo claims up to 738 kilometers, but not according to WLTP, but according to the less demanding CLTC (China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) test cycle.

The rolling, purely electrically powered "office and living room" with an interior made of high-quality materials and comfortable lounge seats is based on the technology of the Zeekr 009 from Geely, but Volvo uses many of its own equipment features: headlights in the brand-typical "Thor's hammer" design, a striking radiator grille with an integrated and illuminated Volvo logo as well as an illuminated Volvo word mark at the rear and, similar to the front, T-shaped tail lights. The powerful appearance of Volvo's EM90 electric van is rounded off by 19 or 20-inch aero wheels and four available paint finishes.

The Volvo EM90 is powered by a 200 kW (272 hp) electric motor in combination with a powerful 116 kWh high-voltage battery. The EM90 electric van goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds, and can be charged from 10 to 80% in less than 30 minutes at compatible charging stations.

In addition to the large Volvo EX90 electric SUV, the brand new Volvo EM90 also supports bidirectional charging with V2G functions. This quickly transforms Volvo's premium EM90 e-van into a rolling energy storage unit that supplies other electric cars and external consumers such as e-bikes, camping fridges and other devices with electricity when required. There is also the "first-class sound insulation and effective noise suppression of road noise." In combination with the electric drive, dual-chamber air suspension and low-noise tires, the Volvo EM90 is designed to "glide" through traffic comfortably and almost silently.

The Volvo EM90 celebrated its world premiere in Shanghai on Sunday, November 12, at the Grand Opening with Volvo CEO Jim Rowan. The Volvo EM90 will initially be rolled out onto the Chinese market, where orders for the EM90 are already possible. The Swedish car manufacturer is yet to reveal if and when the Volvo EM90 will also be available in other regions and countries.
