MagyarVolvo EM90: First electric van from the Swedes is a true space winner with spacious interior
The Volvo EM90 is based on the giant Geely Zeekr 009 electric van, but whether the key aspects of the Volvo van will be identical is unclear. In any case, the Zeekr van is over 5.2 meters long, has a 145 LED front grill, integrates a battery of up to 140 kWh, can produce up to 544 hp and a top speed of 190 km/h. According to initial information, Volvo is prioritizing safety in its massive large-capacity electric van. 96 years of accident research promise a high level of safety for passengers in all seats in the Volvo EM90.
Like every other Volvo model, the new EM90 e-van features a strong safety cage made of various high-strength steel types, including boron steel. This is designed to efficiently absorb and minimize the shock forces of an accident, argues Volvo. Airbags distributed throughout the entire EM90 cabin provide additional protection. The double A-pillars not only provide a clear field of vision, but also create a feeling of comfort, confidence and control behind the wheel.
High-voltage battery specially protected and numerous safety and assistance systems
The Swedish premium manufacturer also provides the high-voltage battery of the fully electric Volvo EM90 with special protection: a strong structure made of steel and aluminum is designed to guarantee the best stability and safety in a wide range of driving and accident scenarios for the Volvo EM90. To prevent accidents from happening in the first place, the Volvo EM90 is equipped with numerous safety and assistance systems as a combination of advanced software, various sensors such as high-resolution surround-view cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors.
Exceptional comfort and luxury
The high level of safety of the Volvo EM90 is complemented by exceptional comfort: the lavishly equipped Volvo EM90 is designed to give occupants the feeling as though they are in a Scandinavian living room. This is achieved through a spacious interior with its wide cabin and ample legroom. The numerous intelligent storage options are also practical for everyday use.
If desired, the interior can be transformed into a concert hall on wheels: the high-fidelity audio system from Bowers & Wilkins ensures the ultimate sound experience with 3D sound, 2,460 watts and 21 speakers, which are also integrated into the headrests of the seats.
And thanks to Volvo's unique air purification system, occupants can also breathe freely: the air in the Volvo EM90 is cleaner than outside air. Pre-ionization and a fiber-based filter remove up to 95 percent of all PM 2.5 particles.
Launch in China, other markets to follow
The Volvo EM90 will initially go on sale on the Chinese market. Order books will also open there for the debut on November 12, 2023. Other markets are currently under review. More information will follow at a later date.
