Vivo has announced the fastest smartphone charging technology we have yet to see. Its new Super Fast Flash Charge ramps things up to 120W, far and away outstripping the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G which utilizes a 25W system. As you would expect, the new Vivo charging system is lightning quick going from empty to 50 percent in five minutes and fully charged in an astonishing 13 minutes. The only other company that is close is Xiaomi, which has demonstrated a 100W system.
The likely recipient of Vivo's Super Fast Flash Charge system is its forthcoming 5G-enabled smartphone. This device is expected to debut at MWC Shaghai on June 26. Vivo, of course, is the company best known as developing the first contemporary smartphone with a pop-up camera designed to eliminate contentious display notches. Its Vivo NEX has set a trend that has spawned a range of copycat approaches to delivering all-screen smartphones that have also gained considerable market traction.
Word on the street is that the Vivo APEX 2019 concept that first surfaced in late January will be the recipient of the new fast charging tech, which along with its buttonless and portless design is sure to turn heads on debut. Ben Geskin, using exclusive information sourced from Vivo itself, has given us the best take on what Vivo's fast charging beast will look like. With less than a week to go till launch, our appetites have certainly been whetted. Will this thing actually be able to charge this quickly without wires?
