With the launch of the X80 series, Vivo may have completed its flagship line-up for 2022, and has now turned to others that may be one or two tiers down. Then again, the brand's next devices, thought to launch as phones called the S15 and S15 Pro, might have some features in common with those premium devices.
The OEM's vice president of brand Jia Jingdong has, for example, just confirmed that at least 1 of these devices will be unleashed with the same 80 watt (W) charging rate as the top-end X Note. This would be a considerable upgrade over its predecessor, although it may only just match up to its potential Realme, OnePlus and OPPO rivals.
The executive has also now stated that the Vivo S15 series will join the X80 line in that it will have Sony image sensors with "exclusive customizations". This announcement might also serve to endorse rumors of an in-house ISP in these new devices, even though they may not be intended to target the premium end of the Android market.
Then again, S15 units are more likely destined for older examples of either in-house Vivo features such as the Sony IMX766V and first-gen V1 than the newer ISOCELL GNV and V1+.
In any case, the new phones' camera quality can now be guessed at via new photo samples found at the end of Jia Jingdong's effusive post on the subject. All 3 new images feature people as subjects, thereby underlining the S-series' new designation as portrait specialists rather than "selfie kings" as in previous years.
