As part of a Kickstarter campaign, the VitaLink - a magnetic and wireless charging solution with various functions - is currently available for pre-order. Supporters can purchase a unit for an early-bird special of $50. As always, buyers should familiarize themselves with the risks of crowdfunding campaigns, including the eventuality that the promised product may never make it to market. Delivery is scheduled for early November.
The VitaLink is fundamentally a power bank, but comes with additional features not typically found on other models. It features a 1.04-inch TFT display which not only shows the charge level much more accurately than with individual LEDs, but also displays the current power output. Up to 15 watts can be output wirelessly, provided that the smartphone supports this amount. Moreover, there is a USB-C port that can output up to 20 watts. Three devices can be charged at the same time.
The 106 x 70 mm and 16.3 mm thick power bank weighs 189 grams and is advertised with a battery capacity of 10,000 mAh. Inbuilt magnets allow the power bank to attach to compatible smartphones. This is also useful when used as a stand for a smartphone, as the model comes with a fold-out holder. Cleverly, this holder apparently also doubles as a USB-C cable. Further information about the VitaLink and how it functions can be found on the Kickstarter page.
