The Visual-X is a new and lightweight VR headset that supports gesture control and can theoretically be used without interruption, which is made possible by a small additional buffer battery. According to the manufacturer, no base stations are required for tracking.

A new VR headset is now available through a crowdfunding campaign. The Visual-X is a lightweight headset that weighs just 6.7 ounces, but unlike comparable headsets from Meta (available via Amazon), it cannot render games locally. However, there is an SD card slot that can be used for local media playback. Interestingly, the Visual-X cannot receive image signals via a wired connection, which means that users have to rely on Miracast and DLNA instead. WiFi 6 and OpenXR are supported, but the headset lacks WiFi 7 compatibility.

That being said, the Visual-X sports a resolution of 2280 x 2280 pixels per eye, a refresh rate of 72 Hz and a field of view of 96°. It also sports a camera with a resolution of 13 megapixels, which can be handy for scanning QR codes. Head tracking is supported and can be useful for 360° videos and some other applications. The buffer battery is also practical and ensures that the VR headset can be used without interruption, as the 2,000mAh main battery can be hot-swapped when it eventually runs out of power.

As part of the aforementioned crowdfunding campaign, the 3DoF version is available for around $460 and is expected to ship in July. As usual, the pretty considerable financial risks of crowdfunding campaigns apply. Shipping fees and import duties are not included in this price, as is a special control ring that will cost an additional $69. Last but not least, it should be noted that Toall is a largely unknown manufacturer.
