MediaTek's Helio X30 SoC has yet to be officially revealed by the manufacturer, but we now know that we can expect it to make an appearance at this year's MWC 2017 at Barcelona. Chinese manufacturer Vernee is already boasting that its upcoming Apollo 2 will be the first smartphone equipped with the unannounced SoC. The original Apollo is a reasonably priced smartphone with a 5.5-inch QHD display, Helio X25 SoC, and LTE Band 20 connectivity. An Apollo 2 reveal later this month would mean that the second generation Apollo could launch as early as just three months into the lifespan of the first Apollo. The more likely scenario, however, is that Vernee will make the early announcement to build hype before launching the Apollo 2 later in the year.
The Vernee teaser image below shows the Apollo 2 with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage space in addition to the aforementioned Helio X30 SoC. Very few smartphones ship with 8 GB of RAM with one notable model being the recently revealed Asus ZenFone AR at CES 2017. It's likely that the Apollo 2 will ship with less expensive variants including a model with just 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. We can expect more official specifications and launch details this coming February 27th.
