Vernee Apollo Lite to be first deca-core smartphone with Android 7.0
Chinese manufacturer Vernee announced its Apollo smartphone earlier this year and now the Apollo Lite model will be one of the first deca-core smartphones to receive an official update to Android 7.0 Nougat. The manufacturing is promising that new and existing owners of the Apollo Lite will receive the OTA update by this December at the earliest, so the roll out may extend into the new year.
The update will come with all the new features inclusive to the latest Android version. This includes split screen apps, faster shortcuts, easier app switching and multi-tasking, and more efficient battery life. The split screen feature in particular was a stock feature of the 2013 LG G3 and it isn't until now that Google will be making it standard on its newest Android software.
The Vernee Apollo Lite is a mainstream smartphone with relatively high-end specifications considering the low $180 USD asking price. Core features include a 5.5-inch FHD IPS display, 4 GB RAM, 16 MP rear and 5 MP front cameras, 32 GB eMMC, CNC metal design, 3180 mAh internal battery, 4G LTE, and the signature deca-core MediaTek Helio X20 SoC. The smartphone is equipped with a USB Type-C port instead of the more common Micro-USB.
