CES 2023 | Verge TS Ultra: Electric motorcycle comes with 201 hp, 233 miles of range and a US$45,000 price tag
This year's CES in Las Vegas has already brought numerous exciting product reveals and launches in the consumer electronics segment, which not only refers to laptops and other mobile devices, but also electric vehicles. Aside from established carmakers such as BMW and Volkswagen, the lesser-known company Verge Motorcycles is also present at the popular trade show and has now unveiled its latest and most impressive electric two-wheeler yet.
This new EV goes by the name Verge TS Ultra and is basically an upgraded version of the Verge TS and the more powerful Verge TS Pro, which have only made their way to certain European markets. Just like the "tamer" predecessors, the Ultra's most striking feature is arguably the futuristic in-wheel motor, which now supposedly peaks at 201 horsepower and can push the electric motorcycle from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 2.5 seconds. The electric bike’s maximum torque output is 1,200 Nm (885 ft lb), and the Verge TS Ultra's top speed is rated at 124 mph.
On more leisurely rides, the electric motorcycle can travel up to 233 miles on a single charge, and it takes only 25 minutes to recharge the battery from 0 to 80 percent. Considering these high-end specifications, it is not much of a surprise that the Verge TS Ultra’s price starts at US$44,900. First deliveries of the electric superbike are apparently scheduled for Spring 2023, but the official configurator suggests that new orders from US buyers will be fulfilled in the fourth quarter of this year.
