Deal | Valve is discounting all Steam Deck variants by up to 20%
Valve is offering discounts for all Steam Deck versions as part of the Steam Summer Sale. The more storage a variant has, the bigger the discount. This promotion will be available through July 13.
Even though many Chinese handheld consoles similar to the Steam Deck but with better specs flooded the market in the past year, Valve barely considered making its lineup more attractive for buyers. In March this year, the company applied a permanent 10% discount for all variants, and with the new Summer Sale discounts, we are finally seeing decent deals for the Steam Deck.
The 64 GB version is the most popular, but it is getting only a 10% discount bringing its price down to US$359.10. Of course, Valve is trying to make the expensive variants more appealing with greater discounts. Thus the 256 GB model is getting a 15% discount down to US$449.65, whereas the 512 GB one is getting a 20% discount down to US$519.20.
While the Steam Deck specs may already feel outdated, Valve said that a new version may not come too soon. It looks like the new AMD Phoenix APUs did not impress Valve too much to prompt a spec upgrade, but maybe next year’s Strix Halo processors could be more convincing. In any case, now that Asus has entered the market with the ROG Ally, the competition should heat up and Valve may answer with more aggressive discounts.
