One of 2017's most successful platformers, Cuphead, has been discounted on Steam. The game launched to critical acclaim for its quirky art style and steep learning curve.

In 2017, Cuphead took the gaming world by storm. What looked like a cartoonish platformer turned out to be one of the most frustratingly difficult games to launch that year. Unsurprisingly, it launched to glowing reviews from fans and critics alike. As of now, it sits at a little over 160,000 positive reviews on Steam.

In Cuphead, you can play as either Cuphead or Mugman, two brothers who live on Inkwell Isle. The game can be played solo or co-op. They lose their souls to the Devil while gambling, and now, they're tasked with recovering the souls of other debtors. The game has you traversing though the region, fighting various enemies and harvesting their souls.

While most levels pit you against a boss (or bosses) in an arena, some segments have you pilot an aircraft, complete with its own controls. Others have you run through a region, dispatching any opposition on the way. As mentioned earlier, Cuphead is not easy, and it will take you a few tries to get beat a level. Bosses fights are often multiphase, with each state bringing a new set of moves and combos.

Cuphead lets you play in two difficulties: Simple and Regular. As their names suggest, the former is more forgiving. But, finishing a level on Simple won't get you a soul, the whole point of your adventures. The game mode exists for you to familiarize yourself with the level and then carry those skills over to Regular. Or you could just dive head-first.

30% discount on Steam

Currently, Cuphead has been discounted by 30% on Steam, bringing its price down to $13.99. SteamDB's price tracker database confirms this is the cheapest the game has ever been since launch. While it gets often discounted, it never goes below 30% because it still holds up even today. If you want to pick up the game's DLC, The Delicious Last Course, it will set you back by $18.89.
