Hollow Knight: Silksong might not have got an exact reveal date at today's Xbox Games Showcase, but if you're on the prowl for another tough-as-nails platformer, Super Meat Boy 3D will be right up your alley. It is the third game in the series (fourth if you consider the flash-based Meat Boy to be canon), and like its predecessor Super Meat Boy Forever, it takes the series in an entirely new direction.
As its name suggests, Super Meat Boy 3D will be set in a 3D space unlike the previous two entries that were strictly 2D. This should, in theory, make the game far more challenging because, but it is far too early to make assumptions based on a few minutes of gameplay. Nevertheless, it launches in early 2026, so there's a good chance we'll see more of it in coming events.
Notably, Super Meat Boy 3D will be the developed by indie studio Sluggerfly, and not the original devs Team Meat. It'll be interesting to see how they take the series forward because Super Meat Boy Forever divided the fanbase because of it being an auto scroller.
