Tipster unveils trove of upcoming Apple products: new mini-LED iPad Air with in-display fingerprint in the offing
Tipster @L0vetodream unveiled a large number of products that Apple is purportedly working on. Many of the items, such as the 12-inch ARM MacBook and Apple Tags have been hinted at by other sources. This leak, however, offers us new information about Apple's upcoming iPad Air.
The latest iPad Pro and iPhone models all sport Face ID, allowing users to unlock their devices just by looking at them. The tipster states that the iPad Air will only feature in-display Touch ID, which from a utility perspective, feels like a step back from Face ID.
Mini-LED technology is expected to significantly improve the display quality of IPS-equipped iPads. With up to 10,000 mini-LEDs per display, local dimming and HDR performance on mini-LEDs iPads would finally be on par with OLED iPhone displays.
@L0vetodream has a relatively small following and this leak is actually from last month. However, the tipster evidently confirmed the new iPhone SE before anyone else, indicating their other Apple-related leaks, including this one, are accurate.
It's interesting that the iPad Air is called out here, not the iPad Pro. If mini-LED and in-display touch are set to become standard on Apple's mainstream devices, premium devices will almost certainly sport enhanced tech. We wouldn't rule out an OLED XDR iPad Pro at some point of time.
