Plenty of people, including myself, would gladly trade the luxury of an expansive 6+ inch display for the compactness of a sub-5-inch smartphone. Apple was once aware of people like us, serving this undeniably niche market with the 4.0 and 4.7-inch iPhone SE, and iPhone SE 2/3 respectively. Bluefox NX1 aims to revive this segment, with its shockingly affordable price and relatively capable hardware.
Size specs: Tiny footprint, big battery
Boasting a 4-inch display, the Bluefox NX1 is substantially more compact than any other smartphone on the market, featuring dimensions of just 100 x 49 mm. At 12.5 mm thick, the NX1 does appear somewhat chunky, compounded by its compact footprint. However, this thickness allows the tiny smartphone to house a 3,000 mAh battery, resulting in a claimed 9 hours of music playback or 5 hours of navigation.
The 4-inch 60 Hz LCD display with a peak brightness of 500 nits packs a resolution of 1168 x 540, allowing for an impressive pixel density of 321 PPI. A MediaTek Helio G81 SoC powers the device, paired with 4 or 8 GB of memory and 64 or 128 GB of storage. Considering the impressively affordable nature of the smartphone, the features on offer are decent enough.
At the rear, a 48 MP single-camera is present, while a 5 MP front shooter sits inside an iPhone-inspired Dynamic Island at the top of the display. Android 15 powers the software side of things, which Bluefox claims is devoid of any bloatware.
Pricing and availability
Priced at just above $100, the entry-level Bluefox NX1 smartphone can now be ordered globally. The higher-tier variant with twice the memory and storage costs roughly $20 more, and the product is likely to start shipping sometime in August.
