Thunderobot launches Steam Machine-esque AMD mini PC with up to 96GB VRAM support

Thunderobot showcased the AI Mini Workstation back at CES 2026, but at the initial unveiling, the company didn't share anything about when this Steam Machine-esque system would launch. Well, it's now available to purchase in China, and even with a launch discount in place, the price is on the expensive side.
The Thunderobot AI Mini Workstation with 128GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 2TB of PCIe 4.0 storage has an initial price of CNY 26,999 in China, which is around $3,975. It's powered by the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395, the top-end option within the Strix Halo lineup, and this APU brings the Radeon 8060S iGPU.
This RDNA 3.5 iGPU did really well in our benchmarks, and as we have concluded, the performance is close to the Nvidia RTX 4070 Laptop GPU. Of the 128GB of total system RAM, users can assign up to 96GB of VRAM to the Radeon 8060S, which would make this integrated GPU ideal for heavyweight AI workloads.
Another notable highlight of this mini PC that looks like the Steam Machine is the cooling setup. Thunderobot highlights that it comes with a custom liquid cooler, featuring a "full-coverage cold plate" to keep the Ryzen APU and other core components cool under heavy loads.
Paired with a 14-phase power supply, this liquid cooler is said to let the system offer up to 176W of power. Getting back to the design, the Thunderobot AI Mini Workstation has a cubic form factor, measuring 199x199x199mm. There's a good selection of ports, including:
- 2x USB4
- 1x DisplayPort 1.4
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 3x USB 2.0 Type-A
- 2x USB 3.2 Type-A
- 1x USB 3.2 Type-C
- 1x 10G Ethernet
- 1x 2.5G Ethernet
- 2x 3.5mm audio
For wireless connectivity, it features WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4. The chances of this Steam Machine-esque mini PC launching outside China anytime soon are low, as Thunderobot doesn't have much of a global presence. Those interested in purchasing similarly configured systems can check out the GMKtec EVO-X2 (available on Amazon).
