Long-time tech reviewer and one of the biggest tech Youtubers on the planet, Linus Sebastian, is seemingly fed up with Nvidia and the way the company has handled the RTX 5060 Ti launch. In the intro to Linus Tech Tips’ latest video, Linus remarks that “the game has gotten so stupid that I am just not willing to play it anymore”.
What has prompted this critique? Among the many reasons Linus shares in the video, the biggest include Nvidia:
- Overpromising the performance of the RTX 50 cards
- Shipping “uncharacteristically buggy software” and hardware
- Cherry-picking data to make the products seem better than they are
- Spreading the launch over months to remain in the news
LTT claims that Nvidia “dumped on us” by failing to coordinate accurate review dates for the RTX 5060 Ti. Upon asking about the dates, Nvidia allegedly told LTT to “just make your content whenever the card arrives”. This is, arguably, a pretty troubling attitude as content creators like LTT have to have video reviews ready for the launch to capitalize on the early hype and views. Per LTT, Nvidia’s seemingly nonchalant attitude, among other things, “incentivizes crunch culture”. One needs to mention here that this hits close to home for LTT, as the media giant was battling accusations of a toxic work culture just a few years ago.
Moving on, Linus also rips into Nvidia’s absurd claim of 50x performance over the GTX 1060 with Multi Frame Generation enabled on the RTX 5060 Ti. The GeForce GTX 1060, which launched in 2016, doesn’t even support DLSS, let alone MFG.
Impact of trade tariffs and higher street pricing
We previously reported that the RTX 5060 Ti is likely to see higher actual street prices and a super-tight supply. So, despite the fact that Nvidia has priced the RTX 5060 Ti rather competitively compared to last-gen, the actual pricing that consumers will likely pay could be much higher. This defeats the whole purpose of a budget GPU by obliterating the value offered, which is something LTT takes an issue with.
The situation potentially becomes even worse when you consider the uncertainty surrounding the global trade as a result of US tariffs.
Nvidia’s botched handling of the RTX 5060 Ti review embargo
LTT also claims that Nvidia didn’t provide them with the review guide or the drivers “until last Thursday”. This means that LTT just had 3.5 business days to go through the documentation as well as test, retest, and produce the final video.
The full video, which is linked at the end, is worth checking out as it details LTT’s reasoning to not produce a standalone RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB review video. However, LTT will publish RTX 5060 Ti benchmarks on ShortCircuit and the LTT Labs website.
