The first Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (Fan Edition) renders have surfaced
Steve Hemmerstoffer, better known by his Twitter handle @OnLeaks, has scored yet another exclusive leak. This time he has his hands on renders of the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (Fan Edition), which is the eagerly anticipated more affordable variant of the premium Galaxy S21 range. Like the 2020 Galaxy S20 FE, it features similar looks and performance to its more expensive stablemates but will come with cost-cutting measures to keep its price in check.
The @OnLeaks renders show a device that looks, as expected, to be made primarily from glastic -- although the Galaxy S21 also comes with a glastic back, it features a metal frame and a metal rear camera housing. The camera housing pictured in the render looks to be made from the cheap glastic as well, helping to save costs. Similarly, it looks like the exterior metal frame of the regular Galaxy S21 has been dropped, likely for a cheaper metal subframe.
We also expect that the Galaxy S21 FE will center on a similar 6.5-inch FHD+ resolution Super AMOLED display with HDR 10+ support and 120 Hz refresh rate to the Galaxy S20 FE. Like the Galaxy S20 FE, you can also expect the cameras to be cut back on Galaxy S21 FE compared to what you will find on the regular Galaxy S21. Where you won’t see anything cut back is in the performance department with the US, Chinese and International 5G models expected to feature a Snapdragon 888. Even the 4G Galaxy S21 FE models will still pick up the excellent Exynos 2100.
With any luck, bargain hunters may not have to wait too long for the Galaxy S21 FE to debut as its launch might have been brought forward (global chip shortages notwithstanding).
