The UHD panel of the Lenovo ThinkPad P15s is (almost) the brightest ThinkPad LCD screen of all time
Lenovo’s ThinkPads come with poor displays.
This was something that people said a couple of years ago. These days, though, high-end models come with very respectable screens. Lenovo’s attitude towards its business laptops used to be: As long as it works, it is good enough for office tasks.
Thankfully, things have changed over the last few years. Not only have low-resolution TN screens and underwhelming Full HD displays become a thing of the past, now there are plenty of ThinkPads with good or even very good screens.
This is particularly true in the workstation segment, where Lenovo has put in a lot of work. Now we have a laptop with the brightest 15.6-inch screen that we have ever seen in a ThinkPad. This is why we decided to review the ThinkPad P15s.
The UHD panel used in the ThinkPad P15s has an average brightness of 608 cd/m². To find a ThinkPad with a similar display brightness we had to go all the way back to 2008, which is when the Lenovo ThinkPad T400 with a special screen intended for outdoor use was released.
Aside from the display, the Lenovo ThinkPad T15s Gen 1 is basically identical to the ThinkPad T15, because it has the same design. The 600-nit display is also used in other current ThinkPads such as the ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 3 and the more powerful ThinkPad P15.
