Xiaomi has developed a penchant for raising the prices of its devices in India without warning, after launch. The latest victim is the Redmi Note 10 that was launched a few months ago, with the company raising prices by Rs 500 across all configurations of the device.

Xiaomi first released the Redmi Note 10 series in India last month. As always, the devices were billed as the best value-for-money offerings in the mid-range segment. It appears, however, that Xiaomi may be playing games with pricing for the Redmi Note 10.

As highlighted by leakster Sudhanshu on Twitter, it seems prices for the Redmi Note 10 have suddenly seen a Rs 500 rise on online shops like Amazon and even Xiaomi's Mi store. This price hike looks to be only present on the vanilla Redmi Note 10, not on the Redmi Note 10 Pro or the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max. The increase also appears to be uniform across all configurations, with the base 4/64 GB model now pegged at Rs 12,499, up from the advertised launch price of Rs 11,999.

This isn't without precedent, as Xiaomi has recently developed a habit of raising device prices in India after launch. The Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8 saw similar price hikes last year, with the case of the latter being particularly egregious.
