The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 and TicWatch E3 rumoured again to be receiving Wear OS 3.0
Wareable has added fuel to the fire about the fate of Mobvoi smartwatches with Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 chipsets. Last month, Mobvoi customer service seemingly confirmed that the TicWatch Pro 3 would receive Wear OS 3.0, just a few days before the TicWatch E3 arrived. However, executives at the company subsequently denied that a decision had been made.
Now, Wareable has confidently stated that both smartwatches 'will get Wear OS 3.0 update'. The website has not received confirmation from Mobvoi that this will be the case, though. Instead, Wareable refers to a 'source close to the matter', whatever that means in this case.
Wareable has not offered the faintest indication of the source's origin. Hence, we are none the wiser if this information has come from Google, Mobvoi or an informed third party. Wareable adds that Mobvoi will not start rolling out Wear OS 3.0 upgrades until late 2021 or early 2022, too.
Unsurprisingly, we are not getting our hopes up about the state of Wear OS 3.0 on the TicWatch Pro 3 or TicWatch E3, yet. Qualcomm has said that the Wear 4100 platform can run Wear OS 3.0, but it will be down to Google and Mobvoi if either smartwatch receives the new OS.
