Earlier this week it emerged that Mobvoi's support team had seemingly confirmed ongoing software support for the TicWatch Pro 3, which the company sells in two variants. Apparently, the representative had confirmed that the TicWatch Pro 3 would receive Wear OS 3.0, Google's next Wear OS platform.
However, Mobvoi has now gone on record to disabuse people that the TicWatch Pro 3's future has been secured. According to 9to5Google, Mobvoi informed it of the following:
Mobvoi are a close partner of Google and have even received investment from them, but there hasn't been any official confirmation on any update timings from Google as of yet.
The statement does not necessarily rule out the TicWatch Pro 3 from receiving the new version of Wear OS at some stage, though. On the contrary, its status as the only Wear OS smartwatch with a Snapdragon Wear 4100, Qualcomm's latest smartwatch SoC. Hopefully, Google starts releasing more information about its new Wear OS platform after Samsung makes its 'New Watch Experience' at MWC Barcelona later this month.
