The LG C2 emerges as a worthy successor to one of the most popular OLED TVs on the market

The C-series made by the South Korean TV manufacturer LG has grown into one of the most popular television models on the market. Thanks to a native 120 Hz refresh rate, these OLED TVs usually shine with their decent price to performance ratio in the upper mid-range segment. But with the upcoming 2022 model year, the brand-new LG C2 first has to take on its very successful and well-performing predecessor.

According to a familiarly thorough review by the TV experts at Rtings.com, the LG C2 OLED TV is in fact an absolutely worthy successor to last year's C1. The new television set still offers a practically infinite contrast ratio, but just like its more expensive sister model, the LG C2 sports significant improvements regarding its peak brightness. In real HDR scenes, the TV can now reach up to 842 nits, which is roughly 200 nits more in comparison to the immediate predecessor that only managed to produce up to 628 nits in this specific test.

Furthermore, LG C2 has made some progress regarding its out-of-box color accuracy, which might have been one of the most glaring weaknesses of last year's model. LG's new OLED TV now has a good white balance and a decent color temperature which is just a tad too cool. The superb color gamut remains largely unchanged. In conclusion, Rtings gave the LG C2 a brilliant score of 9.0 out of 10 possible points, which means that this OLED TV might be able to retain its position as one of the most popular television sets on the market.
