IFA 2017 | The Acer Switch 7 is the first fanless 2-in-1 with an MX150 dGPU

Acer has launched the Switch 7 Black Edition, which it claims is the world’s first fanless 2-in-1 design to feature a discrete GPU. To make this possible, Acer has used a proprietary liquid cooling tech dubbed Dual LiquidLoop to keep both the 8th-generation Core i7 CPU and the Nvidia MX150 dGPU cool. It is also the first Acer device to feature a patented kickstand it calls AutoStand that can be auto-deployed and retracted.
The Switch 7 Black Edition centers on a 13.5-inch IPS display with a 2256 x 1504 pixel resolution. The display also incorporates Wacom EMR technology with support for 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The Wacom tech also supports pen tilt so that users can control the angle, width or shading of each stroke with the embedded stylus. Similar to Samsung’s Windows devices integrating Wacom stylus support, the pen is also battery free and is designed to work with Windows Ink.
The Switch 7 Black Edition uses a brushed aluminum body that weighs in at 2.5 pounds with the keyboard detached. It supports Windows Hello and incorporates an optical-based under-glass fingerprint sensor with power on authentication (POA) allowing users to both power on the device and log in simultaneously.
The Acer Switch 7 Black Edition will be available in North America this December starting from US$1,699. Pricing and availability in other regions was not available at the time of writing.
