Prime shopping season may be over but holidays tend to bring a few great deals to the table. The one on a platter today is the Asus ROG Strix GL702VS, with the gaming laptop currently available for just US$1399.99 on Amazon.

The laptop on sale is the 17.3-inch FHD model with  8 GB GTX 1070, Intel i7-7700HQ, 12 GB of DDR4 RAM, 75 GHz G-Sync display, 128 GB SSD, and 1 TB 7200 rpm HDD. It features a single HDMI 2.0 port, a sole second-gen USB 3.1 Type-C port, and one mini DisplayPort.

The ROG Strix GL702VS is marketed as a thin, light gaming laptop and it does a good enough job in the proportions department, with a thickness of 1.2" and a weight of 6.4 lbs. Not overly sensational but excellent for a 17.3" device. The laptop usually sells for as much as US$1700, so the current price would make it one of the best buys on the market, especially since its smaller sibling, the 15"6 Asus ROG Strix GL553VD-DS71, was already rated as one of our best bang-for-buck budget gaming laptops.
