Tesla just announced on X that it produced 410,244 vehicles in the second quarter of 2025 and sold 384,122. This marks a significant drop in sales compared to the second quarter of 2024.

Tesla report of its second quarter result for 2025, shows a 13.5% decrease from the 444,956 deliveries it made in the second quarter of 2024. In the area of production, the difference is minimal — the carmaker produced 410,831 vehicles in Q2 2024 and 410,244 in Q2 of 2025.

In the second quarter of 2025, the Model 3 and Model Y overshadowed the rest of Tesla’s lineup, accounting for 96.73% (396,835) of production and 97.3% (373,728) of sales. This shows an increase of around 1.5% in the dominance of the Model 3 and Y compared to the first quarter of the year, when they made up 95.15% of production and 95.59% of sales.

Beyond the political backlash surrounding Tesla and Elon Musk, the company is also facing fierce competition from a growing number of Chinese EV makers — especially BYD. Last year, BYD surpassed Tesla to become the world’s largest EV manufacturer, producing over 4 million vehicles.

Tesla, however, gained some attention last month with the launch of Robotaxi, its first vehicle auto-delivery, and the 70,000 Tesla-Supercharger milestone. Also last month, Tesla announced its first LFP cell manufacturing factory in Nevada is almost completed.
