Back in 2019, Elon Musk caused an uncomfortable surprise at a Tesla Cybertruck presentation when the e-pickup's "armoured" glass was destroyed by steel balls in an endurance test. In a new video, YouTuber TechRax, known for his destructive testing of electronics, takes on the Cybertruck and tests the resistance of the windows with a baseball and a steel ball.

This time the Tesla Cybertruck has been put through its paces by a popular YouTuber. TechRax, who is known for destroying the latest smartphones by smashing them with hammers and sharp knives or running them over with heavy vehicles, took the plunge with the new e-pickup after a long break from his YouTube channel. First a baseball and then a steel ball the size of a ping-pong ball are thrown at the windows in the fun test.

The background to this experiment is that Elon Musk has already had two small steel balls thrown at the windows of the Cybertruck during a public demonstration in front of a large audience in 2019, which caused irreparable and serious cracks on impact. As the ball was only loosely swung, it was not even a hard impact. Elon Musk, who was visibly taken aback, tried to salvage the situation by joking that the ball had not gone all the way through the glass.

At the official delivery event at the Gigafactory in Texas in November 2023, there was another public demonstration. Instead of steel balls, a baseball was thrown against the windscreen of the truck. This time with success.

TechRax also threw a baseball at the windscreen of his pickup truck twice in a row in the experiment, but he also repeated the older experiment from 2019 twice in a row with a heavier steel ball - and lo and behold, the glass held up without the slightest damage. In fact, it may be the first time TechRax has ever failed to destroy an object. Watch the full video below.
