The Cybertruck is getting its first grand software update over the air to improve on various aspects of ride comfort and handling. The big 2024.2.3 update for the Cybertruck also includes Tesla's Holiday Update features that it has been missing on until now.

Recently, a Cybertruck owner and avid off-road enthusiast dove into the settings menu searching for the option to lock the electric pickup's differentials only to be shown that the feature is "coming soon." Locking diffs would greatly increase the street cred of the Cybertuck as a serious off-road machine, but Tesla apparently is still ironing out the abilities of its drivetrain and air suspension system.

Unfortunately, the first major Cybertruck software update that is rolling out to retail vehicles right now still doesn't unlock the locking of the diffs. The 2024.2.3 update, however, brings many improvements to ride comfort, handling, and charging of Tesla's inaugural electric pickup.

For starters, the update now brings more flexible battery preconditioning for faster charge times. "Your vehicle now adjusts to the power level of each DC charging station. So battery preconditioning when you’re navigating to a charger, and then charging, can be more efficient," says Tesla in the update's release remarks.

On the other hand, the "improved ride and handling" section of the update will bring smoother air suspension adjustments depending on the road surface, including on rough payments with a lot of twists and turns while in Sports mode, or when the Custom ride mode is set to Focused.

The Cybertruck's handling has been improved, too, with "reduced pitch and body roll in Off-Road Mode." In addition, Tesla has tried to make the ride more comfortable in various other conditions that come with differents loads and while towing off-road or on a highway.

Unfortunately, the big updates that every Cybertruck owner would be waiting on, such as FSD or even Autopilot with automatic steering, as well as the locking differentials option, are still in Tesla's software update pipeline.
