MSI has announced the Titan GT77 HX at CES 2023. Measuring 397 x 330 x23 mm with a weight of 3.3 kg (7.2 lbs), the laptop is legitimately bulky. But this added size is justified, as the Titan GT77 HX will undoubtedly be in the run for the most powerful gaming notebook on the market with a Core i9-13980HX and up to an RTX 4090.

MSI has revealed the new Titan GT77 HX 13V, a machine that sits atop the company’s gaming laptop stack. The notebook, which is in actuality a desktop replacement, is packed to the brim with powerful hardware intended to maximize in-game performance.

While the design of the Titan GT77 HX is virtually identical to its predecessor, the internals have gotten a tremendous boost. The laptop now comes with a 24-core Core i9-13980HX processor. MSI asserts that, thanks to it OverBoost Ultra Technology, all 8 P-cores on the Core i9-13980HX can reach a max boost clock of 5.2 GHz with a total CPU + GPU power of 250 W. Complementing the new Intel chip are the latest GeForce RTX 40 mobile GPUs with the choice of an RTX 4080 or an RTX 4090.

Additionally, the MSI Titan GT77 HX has 4 DDR5 SO-DIMM slots for a total of 128 GB of memory and three M.2 slots. One of these three slots can accept a PCIe Gen 5 SSD, while the other two are relegated to PCIe Gen 4.

Next to the CPU and the GPU, the panel on the Titan GT77 HX is perhaps the biggest draw. MSI is using a 4K Mini LED screen with a 144 Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The panel is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and has a contrast ratio of 1,000,000:1. There is also a webcam around the front, which you can block through a hardware shutter, that supports Windows Hello IR facial recognition.

The Titan GT77 HX also has plenty of ports. There is one Thunderbolt 4 port with DisplayPort and one with both DisplayPort and PowerDelivery, three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a single HDMI 2.1, one miniDP, one 3.5 mm combo jack, a single ethernet port, and one full-size SD card slot.

Finally, the Titan Gt77 HX packs a 99.99 Wh battery and comes with a 330 W adapter in the box.
