The cheapest-ever Cybertruck may only be available at its introductory price temporarily. Tesla is now selling a base AWD Cybertruck with cloth seats and coil springs for less than $60,000, set for release in June

The cheapest Cybertruck that Tesla has ever announced will have a release date in June, but its sub-$60,000 price may not be available then.

According to Elon Musk, the 2026 Cybertruck AWD will cost $59,990 only during the 10 days after its unveiling, for some reason, or up until Monday, March 2.

It is not clear if that means that the new Cybertruck trim's price will be going up in March or that Tesla will announce a new, even cheaper RWD version in the interim. Given that Elon commented "only for the next 10 days" on lead Cybertruck engineer Wes Morrill's post that the AWD Cybertruck now starts from under $60,000, it is more than likely that the price will simply go up.

At the current $59,990 tag, the 2026 AWD Cybertruck is a good value, as it is a full $20,000 cheaper than the Premium AWD trim while offering the same drivetrain and range, so Tesla left plenty of leeway to raise the price and still maintain demand.

It seems that it has launched the 2026 dual-motor trim at this introductory price so that it can gauge demand in terms of production planning, because all the buyer has to do now is pay a $250 deposit to secure the sub-$60,000 price.

According to Musk, the Cybertruck AWD price hike on March 2 will be set according to the demand that its introductory tag brings. In other words, if Tesla sees a decent amount of Cybertruck orders in the next week or so, it may bump the price to $64,990, which would still be $15,000 below the next available trim.

Alternatively, if Tesla fans flock to order enough Cybertrucks to keep production lines busy for months, the automaker may bump the price to slightly below $70,000. This was, after all, the price difference between the Premium AWD trim and the unfortunate RWD version that only lived for five months in 2025 before Tesla nixed it for lack of buyers.

The cheapest AWD Cybertruck is a much better value, though, as it only compromises on a few things like the air suspension or towing capacity, while costing twenty grand less, so Tesla will really have to log an inordinately low amount of orders to keep its price at the current $59,990 level.
