Cybercab redesign admits Cybertruck monowiper is engineering failure

The single giant Cybertruck wiper has now been placed under engineering investigation by Tesla. This could include a total redesign or giving up on the concept altogether.

Tesla can't seemingly get the wipers on its electric vehicles right. After the erratic behaviour of its dual windshield wipers that can be bamboozled by splashing insects to dry-clean all the time during long summer trips on Autopilot, now the single giant Cybertruck Gigawiper is placed under "engineering investigation."

The mono Cybertruck wiper has failed to properly clean torrential rain, slush, or mud for many people ever since its introduction, no matter the adjustments made. So far, there has been one official recall on the matter, but owners have kept complaining that it didn't resolve their issues.

One recent such complaint logged with Tesla's customer service states that "the wiper blade is not clearing the windshield beyond a half radius from the root" despite that the service center already changed the motor and then readjusted the parking position. Tesla's answer to the situation was rather telling as the team stated that the single Cybertruck wiper performance is now "under active Engineering investigation."

What this means is that Tesla may be preparing to completely redesign the Cybertruck wiper assembly, or ditch the Gigawiper concept altogether. A recent spotting of the redesigned Cybercab robotaxi two-seater lends more credence to that notion. The production-ready version of the autonomous two-seater is now coming with a regular dual wiper system with two arms and two blades instead of the monowiper that was styled after the Cybertruck's windshield wiping concept.

The sheer fact that Tesla has given up on the single wiper system for the Cybercab and has placed the Gigawiper concept under engineering investigation could lead to a massive physical Cybertruck recall for outfitting the inaugural electric pickup of Tesla with two wiper blades like the rest of its fleet, or come up with some completely different take on the monowiper concept.
