Spectra presents XSR Spire rugged tactical edge silent mini PC with Intel Xeon CPU

Spectra specializes in military-grade rugged devices designed for the defense sector. The company has a mini PC lineup to which it recently added a new model powered by an Intel Xeon processor with a silent cooling solution.
Dubbed the XSR Spire, this new mini PC is ideal for:
▪ Battlefield management systems
▪ Edge AI and machine learning inference
▪ Sensor fusion and data exploitation
▪ Vehicle autonomy and crewed-uncrewed teaming
▪ Tactical networking
▪ Situational awareness
▪ Mission command applications
It comes with a unique ruggerized case measuring 21.6 x 18.25 x 7.9 cm (8.53 x 7.19 x 3.11 inches) and weighing up to 4 kg (8.8 lbs) depending on the configuration. Since the device is also silent, the upper and lateral sides of the case feature heat dissipation fins made of aluminum.
Even though Spectra states that this model can perform machine learning inference tasks, it does not come with a dedicated NPU as it features a Xeon W-11865MRE CPU from the Tiger Lake family launched in 2021. Nevertheless, for a silent system, this is quite the potent processor with 8 cores and 16 threads that can boost to 4.7 GHz. It is limited to DDR4-3200 ECC RAM specs, but it can accommodate up to 96 GB capacities. For storage, Spectra offers an mSATA SSD with up to 640 GB capacity plus up to 16 TB NVMe SSD storage options. Total power consumption may reach 70 W depending on all the selected options.
Port selection is diverse, with 1x USB 3.0, 2 to 4x USB 2.0, up to 4 serial connectors, 1x XMC or 2x mPCIe expansion slots, VGA or DVI video out, as well as military-grade connectors like 2 to 4x CAN and ARINC 429. Wired networking is ensured via a 10 GbE NIC.
Pricing and availability information is not publicly available, but can be retrieved by directly enquiring Spectra.
