Sony's Xbox Game Pass rival Spartacus to be unveiled in the "next 48 hours"
Rumours about Sony working on an Xbox Game Pass equivalent codenamed "Spartacus" first emerged in April 2021. It is essentially a hybrid of PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now, although the latter is said to be locked behind the most expensive membership tier. Sony was expected to unveil Spartacus sometime in 2022, and that time could be upon soon.
Greg Miller, Roberto Serrano and Tom Henderson have received confirmation from their sources about an upcoming Sony event, which could happen in two (or three) days. Greg states that Sony has at least three major announcements in the pipeline. One of them could be Project Spartacus, Robert adds. Tom rounds it off by speculating that Sony could use the opportunity to unveil the highly-anticipated PSVR 2 virtual reality headset, some new The Last of Us 2 game modes (Factions), and even the God of War: Ragnarok release date.
Another industry insider with a history of accurate leaks, AccountNGT, says that Sony is expected to confirm the date and time of the said event in a few hours. Scattered rumours from around the internet state that Sony could announce the PlayStation 5 Pro controller at the event, but it's best to treat that with scepticism.
