Last week, Sony joined the exclusive list of OEMs to have sent out the Android Pie update, with the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact both receiving the OTA to Pie. The company doesn’t plan on stopping there, though, as it has announced that other devices in its portfolio are set to get the update too—and given specific dates, to boot.
According to the official press release on Sony’s own blogs, the Xperia XZ1, XZ1 Compact, and XZ Premium will start receiving their Pie updates starting October 26. The newer XZ2 Premium will have to wait till November 7.
Sony’s XA series plays host to the company's mid-range offerings and it shows here, as the Xperia XA2, XA2 Plus, and XA2 Ultra won’t receive the update to Pie until March 4. Of course, that’s all relative. We wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the Samsung Galaxy S9 phones getting their Pie updates around that time, so Sony’s work remains commendable.
