Today’s State of Play event has a few exciting tidbits for PlayStation 4 gamers. In addition to a slew of existing titles coming to the console, a classic PlayStation game is getting an overhaul in time for next Spring.
The biggest news out of the event today is Capcom’s announcement of a remake of Resident Evil 3. Resident Evil 2 Remake did extremely well when it was released back in January of this year, so Capcom and Sony may be looking to further cash in on the horror nostalgia. Resident Evil 3 follows Jill Valentine, a member of the S.T.A.R.S. team and one of the protagonists of the original Resident Evil, as she attempts to escape from Raccoon City, a metropolis that is the epicenter of a T-Virus outbreak. As she dodges hordes of zombies on her way out of the city, she encounters a new enemy: Nemesis. The terrifying colossus is similar to Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 in that he constantly hunts the player with unyielding zeal.
The remake of Resident Evil 3 will also feature a four-player survival-focused multiplayer game titled Resident Evil Resistance. The games will launch in a bundle on April 20, 2020, for the PlayStation 4.
In addition to the spooky scary remake, a few other games are coming to the PlayStation 4 soon. Untitled Goose Game is waddling to the console on December 17, 2019; Dreams will launch on February 14, 2020; a new Predator game will land on April 24, 2020; and Paper Beast, a VR title, will launch sometime in Q1 of 2020. Lastly, Kingdom Hearts III will be getting a DLC expansion dubbed Re:Mind with new characters on January 23, 2020.
