Reviews for the Sony Xperia Z4

Sony Xperia Z4

Although Sony’s attempt to turn the Xperia Z4 Tablet into a hybrid via the included keyboard dock is largely a failure, the Z4 is still one of the best 10in Android tablets available. It still has a few flaws, but if you want an Android-based alternative to the iPad then this is the tablet to get.

LG G4 vs Sony Xperia Z4 (Z3+) comparison: The Xperia Z4 wins on performance, but the LG G4 wins on looks and photography
Source: Tech Advisor English Archive.org version
As we haven’t had any hands on time with the Sony Xperia Z4 as it is yet to be announced in the UK, we can’t say definitively which phone is better. With that being said, it depends on what you use your phone for – the LG G4 seems to be the better option for photography and general style/comfort, while the Z4 looks to be the more powerful of the two phones.

Sony Xperia Z4 preview
Source: Stuff TV English Archive.org version
The Z4 family wasn't unveiled at CES 2015, obviously – and there's some talk that the Xperia Z4 may not even make a showing at Mobile World Congress 2015, which takes place in Barcelona from 2nd-5th March. Sony will undoubtedly be showing some new devices off at MWC (it's believed the company will hold a press conference on 2nd March, but that's yet to be confirmed), but many think the lack of rumours and leaks concerning the device suggest it's still a few months off being ready for launch.

Model: Sony's flagship Xperia Z line of phones has released the newest member to this group, the Xperia Z4, also known as the Xperia Z3+. Its entire body is made of a single piece of aluminium, giving the structure a rigid and firm feel. There are three color options available, namely black, copper and aqua green. It measures 6.9 mm in thickness and weighs 144 grams. The screen measures 5.2 inch and has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a pixel density of 424 ppi. The screen is also protected by Corning Gorilla glass. It has been designed with some resin incorporated at the corners in order to protect users as well as increase the lifespan of the phone’s body.

An amazing feature in the Xperia Z4 is its 21 MP sensor rear camera that is among the highest resolution cameras on a phone to date. The front facing camera is also an impressive 5.1 MP. This will definitely please users who like to take photos as well as selfies. In terms of hardware, this phone features an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 3 GB of RAM and an Adreno 430 GPU. An internal storage of 32GB is also present, which can be expanded up to 128 GB as there is a microSD slot. Android Lollipop is used as operating system and the battery can provide up to 12 hours talk time.

Qualcomm Adreno 430: Integrated smartphone and tablet GPU that supports OpenGL ES 3.1 and DirectX 11.2 (FL 11_1). The graphics card has 192 unified shaders clocked at up to 650 MHz.

Non demanding games should be playable with these graphics cards.

5.20":

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

78.5%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
