Sony WH-1000XM4C price and release date leaked

Yesterday, a leak suggested that Sony is planning to bring back its popular WH-1000XM4 wireless headphones with a new variant called the WH-1000XM4C. At the time, very little was known about the device, and there were no details about its pricing, specs, or release plans. Now, a fresh leak has given us a closer look at what Sony could be preparing.

The latest information comes from Billbil-kun, a leaker with a strong track record of accurately revealing products before their official announcements. According to the leak, the WH-1000XM4C will launch in three color options: Platinum Silver, Black, and Lavender.

The headphones are expected to stay very close to the original WH-1000XM4 in terms of their overall design and feature set. In other words, Sony doesn't appear to be making major changes to the formula that made the XM4 one of its most popular pairs of wireless headphones. However, one noticeable difference is battery life. The leak claims the WH-1000XM4C will offer up to 34 hours of playback with noise cancellation turned off, compared to 38 hours on the original WH-1000XM4.

Aside from that, there aren't many confirmed differences yet. Important details, such as Bluetooth specifications or whether Sony has upgraded any of the internal hardware, remain unknown. Because of this, it's still unclear whether the WH-1000XM4C is intended to be a refreshed version of the original model or a "Lite" edition.

As for pricing, the leak suggests the Sony WH-1000XM4C will cost €249.99 in Europe and £219.99 in the UK. It is also expected to launch on September 7, 2026, although the official announcement date has not been revealed yet. For reference, the original model was launched with a $349.99/£349.99 price tag back in 2020.
