SenseRobot unveils AI chess robot with 2,900 ELO to help children hone tactics on real chess boards
SenseRobot has unveiled the SenseRobot Chess - an AI robotic chess coach to help children hone their chess tactics. The robot can be set to 25 ELO difficulty levels from 200 to 2,900, allowing beginners and grandmasters to challenge themselves with an equally matched opponent. SenseRobot easily defeated the world's best active female grandmaster Hou Yifan, who has a standard ELO of 2,633, in its debut match.
The SenseRobot Chess automatically logs in players with facial recognition to instantly recall settings. It uses a camera with 3D recognition of pieces and a three-fingered claw to move chess pieces. The robot can set pieces for over 145 endgames and 2,000 exercises for training and reset pieces for new games. This eliminates wasted time moving opponent pieces around when playing alone. It is designed to be pinch-free for safe use around young children, unlike the Russian Konstantin Kosteniuk chess robot known to break fingers.
During matches, the robotic coach provides verbal feedback and insight into moves to help children learn chess while it moves pieces as an opponent. A hundred games played by chess masters are included to help children develop advanced strategy and tactics. The robot has the ability for remote chess play with Lichess connectivity to players worldwide, and all games can be recorded and shared for review.
The SenseRobot Chess is available on JD.com at an MSRP of 4,799 yuan (~$680). Readers who can't import the SenseRobot from China will have to settle for an AI-powered talking chess board (like this one on Amazon). Players interested in the history of chess computers can read about the first one that defeated a grandmaster (in this book on Amazon).
