Although some might still consider the idea ridiculous, global warming is leading to the arrival of many cooling solutions to take on the road, both active and passive. Japanese brand Sanko is providing a cooling solution bundled into a backpack that can hold a laptop up to 16 inches in size with the help of a two-fan system. However, there's no bundled power source, but any portable battery can provide enough autonomy even when using the high-speed fan setting.
The Sanko Cool Fan backpack measures 29 x 58 x 17 cm (11.42 x 22.83 x 6.69 in) and weighs 1.3 kg (2.87 lb) without a battery. Fortunately, it doesn't need a massive 20,000 mAh power pack to provide cooling for a long, hot summer day. According to the official press release, a 10,000 mAh battery can give the wearer of this backpack 4 hours of high-speed cooling, 10 hours of autonomy on the mid setting, and a whopping 25 hours when running the fans at the lowest speed. Considering these figures, even a small 5,000 mAh powerpack should be enough for most users. Although there is no battery included in the retail package, a dedicated internal pocket for it is present.
In addition to the details above, those interested should know that this backpack sports a front pocket, an inner pocket, as well as a bottle holder, which is located on the left side. The only color choice is black, and the price is 9,480 Yen, which is currently about $59. While there's no information about the availability of the Sanko Cool Fan backpack outside Japan for now, there are quite a few interesting similar options available on Amazon already. Such an option, currently priced at $59.99, comes from the HJDHS store with a rather generic name, Cooling Backpack Ventilation Frame with Fans - Sweat Proof Airflow Backpack Breathable Lightweight Daypack for Hiking Outdoor, as well as similar looks and features.
