Samsung is just starting to roll out One UI 8.0 to eligible devices, like the Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S24 series. Meanwhile, other models, such as the Galaxy S23 lineup, are still in beta. However, recent information provides a first look at Samsung's upcoming One UI 8.5 software update, revealing new details about its focus on AI. The update appears to integrate artificial intelligence into standard device functions to streamline everyday tasks.
The leak, courtesy of NirmalSri, includes details on several new features. According to the post on X/Twitter, One UI 8.5 will bring at least four new AI-powered features: Touch Assistant, Smart Clipboard, Social Composer, and Meeting Assist.

Touch Assistant is designed to process on-screen text to assist with reading efficiency. The new Smart Clipboard is said to automatically suggest actions such as summarizing, translating, or correcting text. For social media, Social Composer would auto-generate posts and reviews. Lastly, Meeting Assist reportedly offers real-time translation for meetings and presentations.
Previous leaks have offered some clues about what to expect in terms of design in One UI 8.5. This update is expected to bring floating buttons with transparent backgrounds, similar to those in iOS 26, but Samsung is expected to implement its own "frosted glass" effect.
These features are expected to debut with the Galaxy S26 series during the first quarter of 2026. This would mark the first release of the new software on flagship devices, with availability on other eligible devices to follow. It's noteworthy that One UI 8.5 is still based on Android 16. However, One UI 9.0, the alleged next big OS update, will be based on Android 17.
