Samsung reveals new C-Lab projects, including a smart electric guitar
Samsung has unveiled 13 new projects from its C-Lab programme that it will showcase at CES 2022. There are four projects supported by C-Lab Inside, Samsung’s in-house initiative, which brings ideas from the company’s employees to life. A further nine concepts are from the C-Lab Outside programme, a startup accelerator.
The C-Lab Inside projects include ZamStar, a smart electric guitar aiming to make it easier to learn the instrument. The guitar will have LED guides to show you how to play if you are a beginner, plus an online jamming platform where you can play alongside more experienced musicians.
Another C-Lab Inside concept is Piloto, an AI mobile app designed to help children self-regulate their smart device usage. A koala bear inspired AI avatar, Koby, encourages kids to place their device in a dollhouse shaped charging unit, telling them that the animal needs to get some sleep. Other features of the app include posture monitoring and ensuring content is appropriate for your child.
The C-Lab Outside programme includes startups such as RGT Inc., a multifunctional serving robot designed for smart restaurants. A further concept supported by the scheme is bitsensing, which provides imaging radar technologies for self-driving vehicles and smart cities.
All 13 of the C-Lab projects will be demonstrated by Samsung at CES 2022 next month. At the time of writing, Samsung still plans to attend the conference, despite many other companies such as Microsoft, Google, Amazon and Meta dropping out due to COVID-19.
