Samsung announced at CES 2016 two new Classic Editions for its Gear S2 family of smartwatches in Rose Gold and Platinum shells. The SKUs are already available for pre-order in European regions for just under 480 Euros. Samsung has confirmed that both will be available in Germany at the same starting price and will be coming to the U.S. as well, though prices are still unconfirmed. The current Black S2 Classic Edition retails for $350 while the regular Gear S2 retails for $300.
Aside from the new colors, the Rose Gold model will come with an Ivory-colored leather wristband while the Platinum version will use a Black leather strap.
The Gear S2 is specially designed to work with certain Samsung smartphones for notifications, calls, Wi-Fi sync, and messaging. While these features are compatible with other Android smartphones running on at least on 4.4 KitKat, the manufacturer is promising better functionality if paired with Galaxy smartphones.
The South Korean manufacturer recently revealed the Galaxy J1, A3, and A5 smartphones, but recently unveiled an over-sized Galaxy tablet with the Galaxy J5 and Galaxy S7 flagship rumored for an official unveiling within the next month.
