A lot has happened in the world of foldables since the Galaxy Z Fold3. For example, the Oppo Find N has launched, demonstrating that foldables need to be neither flip phones nor have elongated displays. While Oppo has not confirmed if it will sell the Find N outside China, Honor is expected to bring the Magic V to global audiences. Supposedly, the Magic V will debut later this month at MWC 2022 in Barcelona.
According to Twitter leakers @dohyun854 and @chunvn8888, Samsung is considering making considerable changes to the Galaxy Z Fold series with the fourth-generation model, currently thought of as the Galaxy Z Fold4. Allegedly, the company already has prototypes at its headquarters that contain improved under-display cameras (UDC) compared to the one that shipped in the Galaxy Z Fold3.
Purportedly, Samsung has found a UDC solution that is good enough to showcase in the Galaxy S23 series, likely due in early 2023. By contrast, the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra feature punch-hole front-facing cameras, mirroring their predecessors. In comparison, @chunvn8888 asserts that Samsung has only managed to moderately improve the UDC in the Galaxy Z Fold4, implying that the camera technology may still be a while away from mass adoption.
However, they added that Samsung may change in the format of the next Galaxy Z Fold's cover display. Apparently, Samsung is testing several prototypes, some with larger, minimal and no changes to the Galaxy Z Fold3's cover display. Unfortunately, it will probably take a few more months before any concrete details about the Galaxy Z Fold4 emerge.
