Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4: Built-in S Pen due for next-generation Galaxy Z Fold, but no major external design changes
According to the latest report by The Elec, Samsung could be bringing more of the Galaxy Note to its Galaxy Z Fold series. Purportedly, the South Korean company has elected to equip the next Galaxy Z Fold with a slot for an S Pen. For context, the Galaxy Z Fold3 is compatible with Samsung's S Pen, but it has no place to store it. Instead, Samsung sells the Flip Cover + S Pen case that has a built-in S Pen holder.
Reputedly, Samsung will not make this year's Galaxy Z Fold wider to accommodate the S Pen Fold Edition stylus. On the contrary, it plans to create a thinner S Pen that can fit within a 6.4 mm-thick chassis when unfolded. By contrast, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is 8.9 mm thick, 0.8 mm thicker than the Galaxy Note20 Ultra.
The Elec adds that the so-called Galaxy Z Fold4 will retain its predecessor's form factor though, with a 6.2-inch cover display and a 7.56-inch interior one. As a result, the next Galaxy Z Fold's design will be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold3 as well. Apparently, Samsung was considering equipping the Galaxy Z Fold4 with a larger interior display, but decided against taking it further because of its poor ergonomics. The Galaxy Z Fold4 is expected to launch in 2H 2022.
