Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 is a 10.1 inch tablet running on Android 4.4 (KitKat). It fits comfortably in the hand with the faux-leather back. It weighs at about 500 g (487g to be exact) and is 0.3 inches (7,62 mm) thick. The 10.1” display features a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixel with a pixel density of only 149 ppi, which means less than desirable sharpness for pictures. Certain apps and images will appear pixelated on the screen. However, the colors are vivid and bright.
The Galaxy Tab 4 is processed by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz with 1.5 GB of RAM and 16 GB internal storage that is expandable by using its microSD slot. The main camera is 3 MP while the front facing camera is 1.3 MP, which is nothing to boast about but functional enough for the regular user.
The stereo speakers are located on the left and right sides of the tablet so volume will not be hindered when the tablet is being held. It provides a decent volume with a good bass. The tablet is connectable with audio jacks, micro USB port, microphone jack, and microSD slot. The battery can run for a good 6 hours with maximum brightness and WiFi on.

Smartphone for giants. Hold a 10.1-inch tablet to your ear and make a call? Strange idea, but Samsung has offered this feature for a couple of years now. Our review shows why the fourth generation of the Galaxy Tab still stands out from the competition.

The Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 might be cheaper but the newer Nexus 9 outclasses it in almost every area. This is understandable because it's newer so if you can jump the price gap, you'll be much better off with Google's flagship tablet.

Like its 7- and 8-inch siblings, the Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 exudes mediocrity. The competition isn't quite as fierce in the 10-inch space, and most every other manufacturer is defaulting towards the low-end for their large screen tablets. As such, the Tab 4 compares favorably with tablets like the Asus Transformer Pad TF103C and Lenovo A10£195.97 at Laptops Direct. The Tab 4 easily eclipses the A10, but at $299 with an included keyboard dock, the Transformer Pad is more useful and a better value.

Samsung Galaxy Tab4 8.0
Samsung has opted just to upgrade the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.0 line instead of showing any new innovation in design or technology. There is no doubt that this tablet is mediocre in most aspects and it's more of a "get the job done" kind of device. The tablet comes in the usual two colors, black or white, omitting the glossy plastic for the now common faux-leather solution. The size makes it suitable to grip with one hand; depending on the users hand size.
The device is powered by a Qualcomm quad-core 1.2 GHz processor coupled with 1.5 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage, depending on the variant. There is also an option to increase memory using a MicroSD card up to 64 GB. The display is an 8 inch 1280 X 800 pixel WXGA TFT panel which gives plenty detail to the average user.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 comes with a rear 3 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera. The entire setup is powered with a 4450 mAh Lithium-ion battery and gives up to 12 hours of Internet use time. In conclusion, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will always perform as an Android 4.4 KitKat device is expected to.

Strangely enough, the SIM card isn’t just for data: you can also make phone calls, making this the biggest phablet we’ve ever tested. The Tab 4 is aimed price-conscious end of the market as opposed to the Tab S, which is Samsung’s flagship tablet.

Even though the Tab 4 8.0 is cheaper than the Tab S and Tab Pro tablets, it’s expensive compared to its rivals. You can save a few quid by opting for the Wi-Fi-only version, but at £240, even that’s £60 more than the excellent LG G Pad 8.3. It’s also more than Amazon’s 7in Kindle Fire HDX and Google’s Nexus 7, both of which cost £199 and have far superior screens to the Tab 4 8.0.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is by no means a bad tablet, thanks to fairly snappy Android performance, some useful operating system tweaks and above-average battery life. However, we don’t think it does enough for the price. The Dell Venue 8 Android is cheaper and has a higher-resolution screen, so is our choice for an 8in Android tablet (as long as you're not interested in games). If you’d like to play the latest 3D titles on your tablet and can handle a slightly smaller screen, the Google Nexus 7 remains the model to buy.

All in all, the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 has a lot of good things going for it and is worthy of consideration at its price point. As is the case with many tablets, there are tradeoffs to consider and users will have to decide which features are most valuable, but all in all, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is a good value for the money.

The Tab 4 8.0 comes with a better processor than its Tab 3 predecessor, and while that's nothing to scoff at, the differences basically end there. Before you decide that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is right for you, I'd strongly recommend that you consider the competition. For only $34 more, you can buy the LG G Pad 8.3, which comes with more RAM, faster CPU, a larger and higher resolution display, bigger battery, and better build quality. It may lack some of the software on Samsung's offering, but as long as it's available at that price point, the Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 just doesn't seem worth the difference in features or performance.

The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is a rather average mid-range offering from Samsung that should get you where you need to go, but doesn't have a whole lot to recommend it. Sumsung needs to make bigger upgrades to its affordable tablet line next year.

Samsung's Galaxy Tab line is a case study in "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Every year brings updated software and a mild hardware refresh, but little that distinguishes it from its predecessors or its peers. It'll suffice for most needs, but the Tab 4 8.0 is an update for update's sake. The LG G Pad 8.3 is the more capable device of the two, and you can find it online for around $300 online or pony up $350 for the pure Google G Pad. The Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 is better than the Tab 4 in every way, too, but is much pricier at $400.

Samsung Galaxy Tab4 7.0
Samsung is joining the crowded space of 7-inch tablets with its Galaxy Tab 4 7.0. It does not really separate itself from other members of the pack and is more for those that are already in the Samsung ecosystem and not looking for anything new.
The Tab 4 lacks the impressive displays Samsung is known for. Its 7 inch screen has a resolution of 1280 x 800. While not that great to look at, it gets the job done even on text-heavy apps and websites. Colors and viewing angles could be better since it is a normal LCD.
Samsung’s UI is known to require a little extra horsepower to run smoothly. The Tab is powered by a quad core processor running at 1.2 GHz and 1.5 GB of RAM, which is good enough for a lot of the apps available. It will get the job done but do not expect speedy performances here. It comes with 8 GB worth of storage, which is expandable via microSD.
The cameras are nothing to shout about, sporting a 3 MP rear camera and a 1.3 MP front camera. They are sufficient for simple shots and video calling but nothing more than that. The 4000 mAh battery is claimed to have a video playback time of 10 hours, which is a solid number, just enough before needing a charge. There are other tablets available but for those invested in Samsung, this can be a good option.

There's a ton of competition in the 7-inch realm, but even two years after its release (and one year after the latest incarnation), the Google Nexus 7$229.00 at Adorama continues to trump new options that simply can't match its blend of performance, features, and price. Samsung's unimaginative update does little to gain any ground on the Nexus 7. Still, for those already wed to Samsung's services or content, the Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 is a completely capable device.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook
Samsung recently released a reading experience focused device in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook. Nook’s award-winning reading capabilities coupled with Samsung’s hardware certainly pack a potent dose for the multitasking user. The form factor is kept similar to all of Samsung’s mid range tablets with its simple white chassis.
The Android 4.4 Kit Kat device comes with a 7 inch WXGA TFT display at 1280 X 800 pixel resolution, which enables bright and vivid images. At the core of the device is a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, 1.5 GB RAM and 8 GB internal storage. The storage capacity can be extended up to 32 GB using the MicroSD slot. This is a welcome option for those looking to store an endless supply of digital books while keeping other forms on digital media on hand.
There is a 3 mega-pixel rear camera and 1.3 mega-pixel front facing camera that does the job. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook has a battery life of up to 10 hours for internet usage or video playback thanks to its 4000 mAh lithium ion cell. Other hardware includes dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS capabilities.

Barnes and Noble's attempt to co-brand a tablet with Samsung is very much mixed in terms of the results. The tablet is decently constructed but looks no different than the Samsung device it is based upon. Instead, you pay more to get some content and the Barnes and Noble applications loaded onto it.

The nearly 11 hours of battery life on the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook makes a pretty compelling reason to consider picking one up for the family. And for $179 you'll get the lightweight slate with $200 worth of Barnes & Noble content, as well as access to some fun Samsung extras such as multitasking. Sadly, the parental controls are painfully complicated and the performance is sub-par.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is a decent entry-level device, but I don't see the market for it other than existing Barnes & Noble fans, and those already with substantial Nook libraries. Otherwise, it's a rather generic tablet that excels in no one area, and one that has even more custom software than the already bloated non-Nook version. It's even a step down in display resolution from the Nook HD, which was one of my favorite low-cost tablets.

Samsung: Samsung Group is the largest South Korean conglomerate and was founded in 1938. Samsung Group employed 489,000 people in 2014 and is one of the world's largest companies in terms of revenue and market strength. The name Samsung means "Three Stars" in Korean and represents the three sons of the company's founder. The company was founded in 1938 as a grocery store. With its subsidiary Samsung Electronics, founded in 1969, Samsung took up the production of electrotechnical items, focusing on consumer electronics and household appliances at an early stage. Other branches in which the large corporation is active include mechanical engineering, automobiles (Hyundai), insurance, wholesale, real estate and leisure. Samsung manufactures a wide range of electronic products, including smartphones, televisions, home appliances and semiconductors. The company's Galaxy line of smartphones is one of the most popular in the world. Samsung is also a major player in the semiconductor industry, making memory chips and processors for many other electronics manufacturers.

7.00:
This display format is in the mid-range for smartphones. It offers a compromise between good visibility, details and resolution on the screen, and you can still fit it into trouser pockets.
8.00:
Large smartphones and a few small tablets are available for this display size. Unlike most smartphones, you can see more on the screen, more details and use larger resolutions. Such formats are better for people with defective vision. However, such devices are no longer easy to fit in a pocket, and they are probably not quite light either.

71.35%: This rating is poor. More than three quarters of the models are rated better. That is rather not a purchase recommendation. Even if verbal ratings in this area do not sound that bad ("sufficient" or "satisfactory"), they are usually euphemisms that disguise a classification as a below-average laptop.
