Samsung Galaxy S8 & S8 Plus: Bigger edge only display and onscreen buttons
A few South Korean investment publications like the The Bell recently reported about Samung's plans to reduce bezel sizes on their next Galaxy S generation, the Galaxy S8. Apparently Samsung engineers who recently talked about increasing the display area up to 99 percent during a conference were dead on with their prediction, that Samsung may already reach 99 percent display area in 2017. According to the information we received, Samsung may achieve an almost bezel-less Galaxy S8 design by removing physical buttons and instead using virtual ones.
In addition to this, Samsung is said to ditch the flat screen version and feature the iconic curved edge display on both Galaxy S8 versions next year. Thus, the smaller version which currently has a 5.1 inch display will increase its display size to 5.7 inch. The bigger version, which will be called the Galaxy S8 Plus, will have a 6.2 inch display instead of the 5.5 inch screen on the Galaxy S7 edge. Samsung will be able to achieve this increase in display size without making the physical size of the phones bigger apparently.
Meanwhile, leaker Evan Blass was able to dig out the model numbers for next years Galaxy S generation phones. According to his tweet, Samsung will ditch the SM-G94x-generation and instead use model number SM-950 for the Galaxy S8 and SM-955 for the Galaxy S8 Plus. He also mentioned a device with the model number SM-N950. Who thinks, this might be next years Galaxy Note 8?
