Samsung Galaxy A72 tipped to feature a more elaborate camera setup than the Galaxy A71
Samsung launched the Galaxy A70 back in March 2019 and followed it up with the A71 about nine months later. With that timeline in mind, it stands to reason that the Galaxy A72 will likely be released over the next few months, and initial details of the phone have now surfaced.
According to a new report, the Galaxy A72 will sport a full-fledged penta-camera setup at the back. So far, most phones have only gone as far as a quad-cam rear setup, with one notable exception being the Nokia 9 PureView and its novel penta-camera array. The Galaxy A72 is expected to also feature five cameras in total on its back but unlike most phones with such a setup, the A72's lineup will actually be useful.
The source claims that the Galaxy A72 will offer a 64 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle shooter, an 8 MP 3x zoom camera, a 5 MP macro lens, and a 2 MP portrait lens. That ensures that all primary focal lengths are covered, with the addition of two not-quite-useful cameras. In comparison, the Galaxy A71 lacks the telephoto lens, and has a depth sensor in place of the portrait lens. At the front of the Galaxy A72 will be a 32 MP selfie camera, similar to what the Galaxy A71 has.
The Samsung Galaxy A72 is slated to be launched in the first quarter of 2021. We'll keep you updated.
