All in this is a neat little handset with a lot to like, but it is most assuredly a mid-ranger with some acute compromises in certain areas. Notably, it lacks performance punch from the CPU at the higher end, and the camera lacks low-light capabilities. The premium fit and finish, as well as distinct features such as the waterproofing and best-in-class display do offer something rather special, however.

However, the competition is tough for the Galaxy A7, especially if you consider OnePlus 3T, which has set the bar in this category, thanks to the premium performance and specifications. Which one you pick will boil down on how comfortable you are trying out a newer brand.

Priced at Rs 33,490, the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017) checks nearly all the right boxes when it comes to the specs and performance. But, there are a few hits and misses, especially when compared to other Samsung smartphones such as the C7 Pro and C9 Pro, all of which are nearly the same with minimal variation(s) in price. The C9 Pro is notably's Samsung's first smartphone to have 6GB of RAM.

The Galaxy A7, while not offering the best specifications for the price, offers a very well rounded package overall with IP68 water and dust resistance, a great display, decent battery life, sleek and svelte looks and a premium build.

The Samsung Galaxy A7 is a well designed smartphone with good battery life. However, it does have its weaknesses, and isn't always dependable. The OnePlus 3T and Moto Z are faster, with better cameras. The Galaxy A7 is for those who put good looks above all else.

With all said and done, we have to admit Samsung isn't making our job any easier with the new A-series. The 2017 iteration comes so close to flagship territory that it almost seems unnatural, even a bit illogical. As if, Samsung really wants to see you having a hard time deciding between two Galaxies. Then again, a more thorough look at the bigger picture, swiftly brings common sense back into the matter and grand marketing schemes start shining trough.

By now it must have become clear that we really liked this year's Galaxy A7 edition. Were it not for the many camera mishaps like the soft-ish pictures and shaky videos, it could have scored excellent on all counts.

Priced at Rs 28,990 and Rs 33,490, the Galaxy A5 (2017) and A7 (2017) seems to be a tad bit expensive but you get Samsung’s goodwill along with it. While we surely have a stiff competition in this price bracket, both the Galaxy A5 and A7 (2017) look promising. The IP68 certification is definitely a plus and Samsung’s long successful run in camera and display department is expected to continue here as well. But, this is not our final verdict. Stay tuned to our reviews about the smartphones for in-depth analysis.

Samsung didn’t have the best of year’s in 2016. It really is hard not to bring up the Note 7 when their brand name comes up. The good thing that came out of that unfortunate situation is that the company has promised to make good on the products to follow and the opening salvo that the A series brings is definitely a great sign.

Unlike previous years, where three size options were available, Samsung Singapore has cut down to just two for 2017: the 5.7-inch A7 and the 5.2-inch A5. The 4.7-inch A3 model will not be available in Singapore.

That pretty much does it for our initial review of the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2017), which retails for Php 23,990. It’s smaller sibling, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), which pretty much has the same specs except for a smaller display at 5.2-inches retails for Php 19,990.

It is a very small display format for smartphones. You should by no means be mis-sighted and you will generally see very little on the screen and only have a small resolution available. In return, the device should be very small and handy.

79.42%: This rating is not earth-shattering. This rating must actually be seen as average, since there are about as many devices with worse ratings as better ones. A purchase recommendation can only be seen with a lot of goodwill, unless it is about websites that generally rate strictly.
