Six months after launching the Galaxy A06, Samsung has followed it up with a 5G variant. Announced in India, the Galaxy A06 5G is the first Galaxy A0 series smartphone with 5G support. The phone has an almost identical design to the 4G variant but with the addition of IP54 dust and water resistance rating for improved durability.
Samsung is keeping the screen size and resolution unchanged from the 4G variant. However, the 6.7'' HD+ display now refreshes at 90Hz instead of 60Hz. There's a MediaTek Dimensity 6300 processor under the hood along with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Galaxy A06 5G has a hybrid SIM slot which allows users to insert either two nano SIM cards or a single SIM card and a MicroSD card.
The Galaxy A06 5G has a 50MP primary rear camera and a 2MP depth sensor. There's also an 8MP camera in front inside the U-shaped notch. Like the 4G variant, it has a 5,000mAh battery that charges at 25W, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an audio jack.
Thanks to arriving much later, the Galaxy A06 5G ships with One UI 7 based on Android 15 out of the box. Samsung will also provide significantly better software support as the Galaxy A06 5G will receive 4 OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates (or until 31 March, 2030). For context, the Galaxy A06 4G ships with Android 14 and will receive only 2 OS upgrades but 4 years of security updates. Although, both still trail behind the Galaxy A16 series (5G version available on Amazon for $199.99) which will receive 6 OS upgrades and 6 years of security updates.
The Galaxy A06 5G is available in Light Green, Light Gray, and Black. It starts at ₹10,499 (~$121/€116) for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, goes up to ₹11,499 (~$132/€127) for the 4GB RAM + 128GB version, and maxes out at ₹12,999 (~$150/€144) for the 6GB RAM variant with 128GB of storage. It is already available to buy on Samsung's online store. It will also be available at partner retail stores, online and offline.
