Microsoft has officially announced that Xbox will host its own livestream at the Tokyo Game Show 2025, scheduled for Thursday, September 25, at 7 PM JST. Xbox revealed a few details about the event in an Xbox Wire post and promised to “feature titles from our creative teams, alongside exciting updates from our partners in Japan, across Asia, and around the world.”
However, not much is known about the duration of the stream and what games to expect at Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show panel, but rumors are circulating about Forza Horizon 6’s long-awaited reveal.
For years, rumors have been floating around that the next Forza Horizon game will be set in Japan, an open-world setting that fans have been begging Playground Games for years. Japan itself is already well-represented in previous titles with multiple race tracks being offered to racing enthusiasts including the fictional mountain pass Fujimi Kaido and the more realistic circuits Suzuka Circuit and Tsukuba Circuit.
Hype for Forza Horizon 6 started surging following a now-deleted Instagram post by Australian car importer Cult and Classic, which revealed that Playground Games developers were photographing a Japanese Kei car, which is a small vehicle exclusive to Japan’s JDM scene.
This leak gave some additional substance to rumors that Forza Horizon 6 would be set in Japan, and it would make perfect sense, considering the country’s rich history of underground street racing culture, particularly Midnight Club, which operated on the Wangan highway.
However, the inclusion of a Kei car doesn’t exactly confirm a Japanese setting, but suggests the inclusion of Kei cars from either Daihatsu, Honda, Suzuki, Toyota, or Subaru to fill out a roster of vehicles in the reportedly upcoming game.
Furthermore, Xbox’s statement does raise a bit of further corroboration to the alleged rumors, as the company stated, “We know players around the world delight in Japan-inspired content games developed in Asia, and we can’t wait to connect with players across the globe to show off the incredible talent and creativity behind upcoming games coming to Xbox.”
Further fueling speculation is a statement by Windows Central, which states, “Windows Central has seen documentation suggesting Forza Horizon 6 will be announced at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.”
This claim was further corroborated by industry insiders like NateTheHate and Tom Henderson, lending some extra credibility to Forza Horizon 6’s TGS 2025 reveal. However, Microsoft and Playground Games have yet to confirm the setting or reveal it.
It is important to note that the CEO of Xbox Gaming, Phil Spencer, had hinted that the next Forza would launch in 2026 to celebrate Xbox’s 25th anniversary during the June 8, 2025, Xbox Games Showcase.
